Technique
- Stand tall with the arms bent at 90 degrees, ready to swing opposite to the legs.
- Lift one knee to hip height with the ankle flexed, toes pulled up toward the shin.
- Step-hop on the other foot, then swing the first foot down to land under the hips on the ball of the foot.
- Alternate legs in a rhythmic skipping pattern, with a small hop on each step.
- Progress forward over 15 to 20 metres.
Cues
- Stay tall and land under the hips.
- Drive the knee up and the foot down quickly.
- Swing the arms opposite to the legs.
Common mistakes
- Leaning backward as the knee lifts.
- Landing with the foot out in front of the body.
- Slow, heavy steps with no spring.
