Technique
- Attach a plate or dumbbell to a dip belt, or wear a weight vest.
- Support yourself on the bars with straight arms and shoulders pressed down.
- Lower yourself under control until your upper arms are about parallel to the floor.
- Press up until your arms are straight.
Cues
- Add weight only once you can do 10 or more clean bodyweight dips.
- Keep the added weight from swinging.
- Keep the same depth as with bodyweight.
Common mistakes
- Going deeper under load than your shoulders handle.
- Shortening the range as the weight goes up.
- Kicking the legs to get out of the bottom.
