Technique
- Lie on your back on the floor, legs straight, hands flat beside the hips or under the lower back.
- Brace the abs and press the lower back gently into the floor.
- Lift both legs together until they point at the ceiling.
- Lower them slowly until they hover just above the floor, then repeat.
Cues
- Stop lowering at the point where the lower back starts to lift.
- Bend the knees slightly if the hamstrings or back feel strained.
Common mistakes
- Arching the lower back off the floor.
- Letting the legs drop fast.
- Swinging the legs up with momentum.
