Technique
- Sit in the leg press with the back and hips flat against the pad.
- Place the feet low on the platform, shoulder-width apart, with the heels still on the plate.
- Release the safeties and lower the platform until the knees are about 90 degrees or a depth you can control.
- Press up through the whole foot without locking out the knees.
- Re-engage the safeties at the end of the set.
Cues
- Keep the heels down on the platform.
- Move the platform under control.
- Keep the hips pressed into the seat.
Common mistakes
- Letting the heels lift off the platform, which puts load on the knees.
- Lowering so far that the pelvis lifts.
- Locking the knees hard at the top.
- The knees caving in.
