Technique
- Loop a long resistance band across your upper back and under your armpits, then pin each end under a hand on the floor.
- Set up in a high plank with hands slightly wider than the shoulders and the body in a straight line.
- Lower your chest toward the floor with elbows angled about 45 degrees from the body.
- Press the floor away until the arms are fully straight against the band tension.
Cues
- The band is hardest at the top, so finish each rep with full lockout.
- Squeeze the glutes and brace the abs to keep the body in one line.
Common mistakes
- Letting the hips sag or pike as the band pulls.
- Flaring the elbows straight out to the sides.
- Using a band that is so strong that the range of motion shrinks.
- Letting the band slip up toward the neck.
