Technique
- Stand tall and grip a weight plate by its rim with both hands at about the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, palms facing back, arms hanging in front of the thighs.
- Keep the elbows against your ribs and the wrists straight.
- Curl the plate up toward your chest, knuckles leading.
- Lower it slowly until the arms are straight.
Cues
- Squeeze the rim hard; the pinch grip is part of the work.
- Keep the elbows still.
Common mistakes
- Letting the plate tilt or slip.
- Swinging the body.
- Choosing a plate too heavy for the grip.
