Technique
- Sit on the floor and roll a padded barbell over your legs until it rests in the crease of the hips.
- Lie back with knees bent and feet flat, about hip-width apart.
- Hold the bar in place, brace the abs and drive the hips up through the heels.
- Squeeze the glutes at the top, then lower the hips until they lightly touch the floor.
Cues
- Use a bar pad or folded mat across the hips.
- Finish with the ribs down and the body in a line from shoulders to knees.
Common mistakes
- Overarching the lower back at the top instead of squeezing the glutes.
- Letting the knees fall inward.
- Bouncing the hips off the floor between reps.
