Technique
- Place the center of a band under both feet, feet hip-width apart, and take an end in each hand with arms hanging in front of your thighs.
- Brace your abs and keep a slight bend in the elbows.
- Raise both arms straight in front of you to about shoulder height.
- Pause, then lower slowly against the band tension.
Cues
- Keep the ribs down and torso still.
- Raise to shoulder height, no higher.
- Slow lowering keeps tension on the shoulder.
Common mistakes
- Swinging the body to start the lift.
- Shrugging the shoulders.
- Letting the band snap down at the bottom.
- Raising the arms far above shoulder level.
