Technique
- Set both pulleys at the lowest position and take a handle in each hand.
- Stand in the middle with a staggered stance, arms down and slightly out to the sides, palms forward.
- With a soft bend in the elbows, sweep the handles up and in until they meet at about chin height.
- Lower them slowly along the same arc.
Cues
- Lift the hands, not the shoulders.
- Keep a slight lean forward so the cables pull against the chest.
- Squeeze the upper chest as the hands meet.
Common mistakes
- Shrugging the shoulders up at the top.
- Turning it into a front raise with straight arms and no inward path.
- Using a weight that makes you lean back.
