Technique
- Place a preacher bench in front of a low pulley and attach a rope.
- Sit with the back of one upper arm on the pad and hold the rope with that hand, palm facing in.
- Curl the rope up, thumb leading, until the forearm is near vertical.
- Lower slowly until the arm is almost straight, finish the set, then switch arms.
Cues
- Keep the armpit snug against the top of the pad.
- Keep the palm facing in the whole way.
- Pause briefly at the top; the cable keeps tension there.
Common mistakes
- Lifting the elbow off the pad.
- Dropping fast into a locked-out elbow.
- Twisting the torso to help the arm.
