# Straight-Bar Triceps Pushdown

## Technique

1. Attach a short straight bar to a high pulley and stand facing the stack with an overhand grip about shoulder-width apart.
2. Pin your elbows to your sides and start with the forearms just above parallel.
3. Press the bar toward your thighs until the elbows lock out smoothly.
4. Let the bar rise back up under control without moving the elbows.

### Cues

- Keep the elbows pinned and the shoulders down.
- Squeeze the triceps at the bottom for a moment.

### Common mistakes

- Leaning far over the bar to push with the body.
- Letting the elbows drift forward on the way up.
- Using a weight that makes the shoulders shrug.
